YES, I’m a city girl! When you visit my store it is hard to imagine with all of the treasures you will find. Saying that, I grew up in a house with brothers and sisters (I am the youngest) and my parents were married in 1955 which has led to the love of all things worn, tattered and vintage. There are comforts in those. You see, with so many mouths to feed we didn’t throw things out but re-purposed them. My Mother was a fantastic sewer and doer of all things hand made. I believe that is where I got my talent and passion. Schooling in accounting for many years, I made my way to a bigger city and worked as a Financial Analyst. After 10 years or so it was time to bring my little family closer to home and ensure that I could instill a little of that passion in them that was instilled in me.
Magnolia came out of nowhere. It literally blindsided me. What started with a necessity in our little town to save some much needed jobs has turned into my third child, baby really, 10 years old now. I have come to learn that I love people, love being there for my community and love flowers. I love creating and the process, most of all I am humbled to share that passion and excitement with you.
After spending a career in the airline industry, I landed back at home to care for my Mom. Helping customers has always been something I excelled at and flowers feel like a great fit for me. You’ll find me out on the river in the summer or out on the pickle ball court.
Hi, I’m Debbi. A little bit about myself. Ever since I was little I loved creating with nature so it was only natural for me to become part of the floral industry growing up. I have been in the industry from the wholesale aspect to designing for large corporations to owning my own shop. With my husband, we moved to Gananoque. I was excited to find Magnolia which shared the same loves I have – whimsical garden designing, passion for nostalgia of old items, and quirky creative ways to put them together. I love working with these girls. They are working, creative, and fun loving.
I moved to Gananoque just over a year ago with the intention of getting involved in a small creative community with an abundance of natural beauty. I am a multi-media maker with a passion for colour, pattern, texture and form. After an early retirement from my award-winning design and corporate communications firm, I have been facilitating workshops and classes in yoga, creative expression and healing.
Working at Magnolia is a new adventure for me. I love being surrounded with the beautiful collections we carry and learning to work with floral design is a perfect fit. My care and concern for the environmental issues combined with a love of fashion led me to create Triptastica Eco Couture, an ever evolving up cycled clothing and accessory line which I sell at makers markets and on-line through Etsy.
Growing up I always had a passion for flowers, design and country living. I live on a farm with my husband and three small children raising heritage beef, chickens and horses. I love designing and flowers. I have many years experience working in floral design, flower shops and owning my own flower shop. I love our little community and live raising my children here!
